Post apoc terrain - Damaged cars

While I was looking for good posters I´ve made a small terrain piece of wrecked cars using the technique described on Terragenesis. Still lacking some details but looking good so far.

ATH (After the Horseman) project

I´ve finally started the After the Horseman (ATH) Project. After the horseman is a post apoc wargame from Two Hour Wargames.

I quote from the 2hw:

"After the Horsemen takes place after mankind has broken down. How’d it happen? Who really cares? As one of the few people still alive it’s your goal to survive and thrive in this new world. While some view it as the end of the world a few think of it as a new beginning. Kind of like the glass being half empty or half full, it’s all how you look at it."

That´s the first building: A post apoc gás station (still a WIP):

Finalmente comecei meu projeto de After the Horseman (ATH). After the Horseman (Após os Cavaleiros) é um wargame pós apocalíptico de Two Hour Wargames.

Urban Table WIP

For a long time I'm been thinking on building a table for modern wargames. Between day chores I fuzz with the table ideia always wondering when I actually will debut a game in it (All Things Zombies would be great!). This week I had a cool idea: What if the table were magnetized? So the chances of overthrowing a miniature or building would be little! I bought some  magnetized sheets and covered the blocks with it. I glued fine sand on the street for texture black paint and than drybrushed gray and white. The table base is hardboard 4mm.

To paste the magnetized sheet, I used the very glue that comes in it and it is horrible but as it was only for testing its ok. If my plan were to be good I would stick with wood glue and paint a concrete texture on it. I printed some of my buildings to scale with the miniatures and put some thin strips of magnetized sheet at its base to adhere to the magnet on the table. I use metal washer for my minitaures and they adhered well on the magnet sheet.

After i placed the minis and the buildings on the scenario I turned the table 45 degrees and it worked!Nothing fell off the table.

Now I can play without worry of  bumping away the minis or buildings of the scenario (I'm worse than Godzilla to take down the buildings LoL!!) The only thing left to do is to glue the sheets with some resilient glue, paint, print more buildings and it will be ready for gaming!!!

Time to test it!

Well... after the spackle was dry (24 hours) the result was not so bad. Actually not bad at all! The building was a lot more sturdier than I tought it would be! After a delicate cleanse with a moist cloth the result was very impressive. I´m so happy with the building that I´m going to test it with the best way I can think of: An ATZ GAME!!!

I´m going to use some new sculpted and painted survivors too. They are:
Chief - Former policeman

Montana - Former car robber

Mama - Fofmer... Mama??? (or maybe the elephant woman since the face result was kinda crappy...)

How they banded together is up to your imagination.

Scenario:

Day 4 of the outbreak. Three survivors are trying to get away from the big cities and the crawling undead. They are on the road in a pick up when they get a flat tire. Now they have to find a replace tire since they have no spare. Fortunately, they are near a small town by the road where they can see a dinner (Wack Donald´s), a Tire repair shop (lucky survivors!!!) and a peaceful cemetery (darn... this can´t be good...). It seems that a car and a truck crashed not too long ago as pillara of fog atill swirl from the crashed vehicles. They cant see no movement by those cars. They begin at the top left of the scenario photo.

You can see the survivors objective in the center of the above photo (tires). Optionally they can get the hearse by the house at the bottom right of the set. (a black car in black felt may be hard to see...)

On the survivors left we can see the spackled building as "WACK DONALD´S"

Game on! Soon I´ll post the Battrep!

Spackle It!

I´m testing this filler technique to texture my scratch-builded-half-timbered-house but I´m not sure if it will work like I´m expecting. I must confess that i´m not very confident in achieving the same result you can see here. I´ve built a simple cardboard model to test this technique and I will share my result as soon as I can but my impression so far is that the filler (even as I´ve mixtured with PVA glue) will crumble when manipulated when gaming.

So... I really hope that the texture will become a cool one after painting and that it will be strong enough after some varnishing. Good weekend y´all!
